The Alaskan Bootleggers Bible is not only a good read, but it is a good resource. This book is about making beer, wine, liqueurs, and moonshine whiskey. An old Alaskan tells how it’s all done. This is an excellent resource as far as having the knowledge to make barter items, or fuel in times of need. To download the complete manual, or to view it online, please click the link below…
I had the opportunity to purchase this pack just about 4 years ago. I have a digital camouflage version. I have used this pack for hiking, hunting, camping, extensive traveling, and much more. I am going to go over a few things I really like about this pack and maybe a few things I don’t.
This pack is available in the DDP Shop for $65.00. Click the tab at the top. Shipping costs included in all pricing.
You can find this pack online from Amazon, or anyone that sells military or tactical gear. This is a cost effective pack, in the fact that you can spend far more for a similar pack. Beware of pricing. I have seen this pack selling for around $55.00 however shipping was outrageous.
Starting at the top of this pack is a carry handle. I use this actually a lot. Especially when going through the airport. The carry handle does not have the rubber handle, but it is more than sufficient to use under a full load. The pack is made from heavyweight 600 Denier Polyester. The shoulder straps that are on this pack are padded nicely and curved to fall under your arms and back to the pack properly. The straps have 2 small D rings on them which I like because I can use that to carry my compass or clip anything small to the straps for easy access. The only issue with the D rings is that there are 2 sets. The top set is really tough to use because they sit so high on the strap. The straps also have a sternum strap that is adjustable. The strap is not something I typically use, but it is designed to help distribute the weight. The buckles at the bottom of the straps work well and are easy to adjust after placing the pack on your back. The part of the pack that seats against your body is padded and has a mesh material to disperse heat and moisture. This pack is also hydration compatible, so the hydration bladder pocket is just above the mesh part of the pack and just below the carry handle. the bottom of the pack has a waist strap which I have never used. I have thought about getting rid of this strap, however it does tighten up nice and sits below the pack to be out-of-the-way.
The side of the pack has some compression straps that have worked well for me. I can unlatch them and then stuff this pack full, or I can carry a light load and pull these latches tight to compress the pack.
There are 5 storage compartments on the this pack. The first being the hydration compartment, the main storage compartment, a very usable mesh pocket on the inside of the main compartment that has zipper closure. The main compartment is spacious and lined in a water repellant material to keep everything dry.
The fourth storage compartment is large, and a great place to put gear that you need to access all of the time without having to unpack your main storage. However the size of this compartment will decrease depending on the load you have in the main compartment. This has never stopped me from packing what I needed, and I have never had to leave anything behind I wanted to take. The last compartment is a zipper compartment on the front of the pack. It has a zipper closure, and will hold a fair amount. There is a strap the runs the front of the pack and latches, acting as another compression strap. The tip of the strap contains a small D ring. The bottom of this pack has some loop straps that I have never used. They are small and I can’t imagine even a bedroll being able to fit into these for carry.
Overall I love this pack. I have had this pack and use it extensively for 4 years. All of the stitching is intact and all of the buckles are still in good shape, even though the are molded plastic, none have broken, and all work. Although I would not rely on this in a full combat deployment, this pack has served me well and I have had no issues. I constantly get asked where I got it. This is one of the packs I have and I am very happy with it.
I recently ran into a new and innovative product called the CSS or Combat Support System. Designed initially for combat troops in Afghanistan, it is the only tactical rack commercially available. This rack is made for holding a rifle, a helmet, or some sort of headgear, as well as a tactical vest, body armor, flak jacket, bug out bags, or hunting gear. This rack comes in a few different configurations, and colors. The basic system retails for $89.99. For more information on the Combat Support System please click the link below to visit:
Hunting, or anything else
We have posted here a while back about wood gas powered generators and motors. As impractical as it sounds, theses methods of alternative fuels are relevent to a prepper checklist. If there is no gasoline, how would you power a motor or generator? Although we have posted something on this in the past, this is a manual on the subject and an interesting read.
Wood gas, or wood gasification, is a decades-old renewable energy technology that converts chunks of firewood, wood chips or other cellulosic biomass to charcoal, volatile and combustible gases, and occasionally, combustible liquids.
The process, which is called pyrolysis, is accomplished by cooking the wood (under low oxygen conditions) in a wood-gas generator and collecting the vapors, which are then directed to the generator, or vehicle.

I was just asked recently by my wife if I wanted to run to the store with her to get some groceries. She told me she had several stops to make, and it could be a couple of hours, I thought I was going to have to pick her off of the floor when I agreed to go. I had my own reasons to go, however she didn’t need to know that. We packed up our kids, and headed off to the grocery store.
As we walked in, we both grabbed a cart, and she looked at me and she knew I was up to something. I tend to pick up preps when I can, and I saw this as the perfect opportunity. I picked up some water, and I headed over to the bakery. As I am standing there waiting for the employees to help me, I see her walk past me shaking her head. When the bakery employee approached, she asked me what she could get for me. I simply responded…”I would love to have your empty frosting buckets with lids please”
She emerged with 6 small buckets and (2) 5 gallon buckets. I was thrilled, although they had not been cleaned yet. Next step was to unload the car and get these things cleaned. Once cleaned and dry, they are ready for use.
The use of buckets in prepping is not new, and most of the time when you see them, they are being used as food storage. They will seal tight, and keep rodents and mice out. The truth is however, there could be hundreds of uses for these buckets. My wife has a fit each time I get more, because we have so many, but they are too useful to pass up.
The smaller containers are perfect for smaller food storage portions. When using these buckets for food storage however, you must use mylar bags and oxygen absorbers. You can seal the bags using an iron.
A few features about these buckets that make them fantastic is the fact that they come in round or square. They have handles, lids, and they are extremely durable. They are perfect for a trunk kit for your car, they would work well to bury a cache of items, and they have a rubber gasket to seal them air tight.
The larger buckets are also extremely durable and will hold 5 gallons. When obtaining these buckets, the best ones are the pure white, that I have seen. There are some you may get that are clear and they tend to be too flimsy for what I like, but you can use those to wash the car.
The places that you can get these for free are grocery store bakeries, bakeries, the cookie shops at the mall, Sams, Walmart, Costco, or any place that has a bakery.

The safety siphon is a great tool that I hope will find a place into your bug out bag. This is a tool that often gets overlooked, but could be as useful as a first aid kit. This siphon is fast, self priming, and will allow you to pull gas, water, or almost any liquid without getting it in your mouth. Click Below to see on Amazon.
This siphon is small enough to be stored in your bug out bag. The business end of this siphon is the brass fitting which is self priming. This means that you stick the brass fitting into the source of liquid such as a gas can, gas tank, or water source, and you shake it up and down. This motion creates a vacuum that starts the flow. No need to ever put your mouth up to the hose.
This siphon is available from Amazon for 14.99, is a great investment, and maybe a tool you haven’t thought of.

Hydroponics is something new to me, and something I knew little about. If you are not familiar with it, hydroponics is a method of growing plants with nutrient rich water, instead of using soil. Soils actually retain nutrients, but are not essential for growing plants. This is a new concept to me, and I never really understood the advantages, or why someone would want to use hydroponics. I had a lot of questions until I found this book, “How To Hydroponics” This is a great resource, to view or to download, please click the link below.
The Flight Vest by Ogio is a piece of equipment I want to introduce as an excellent option for prepping. People talk about bug out bags, however there are other options that are available that will enable you to carry more gear or equipment, without being limited by added weight.
Using this vest in conjunction with your bug out bag, will enable you to maximize what you can carry. By having this loaded and at the ready as you would your bug out bag, it is a grab and go item just as your bag. This is not the same as a Tactical Vest.
This vest also has very good weight distribution, a hydration bladder, and tons of storage ability.
Wood frame construction is the predominant method of building homes, and most structures in the United States, enabling this nation to have the worlds best housed population. The framing is the skeleton of the house or building providing structure and strength.
Having the ability and knowledge to build a solid structure if needed for shelter or for support buildings in the case of collapse, is important. I must admit, I do not know all of the best ways to frame and construct even a small structure. This is a very good and informative manual. To view or download please click the link below.
War is an environment that breeds violence, and death. The main objective is to kill the enemy to gain ground, or key objectives. In a situation where society breaks down, as a a result of a natural disaster, civil war, economic collapse, power grid failure, there may be no immediate access to a hospital or emergency room. In a situation like this, we go back to the main objectives in battle, to kill the enemy to gain ground or key objectives. Key objectives could be your home, or bug out location. Your preps, your water, your shelter or bunker. This environment will result in injuries or wounds that may require immediate first aid, or emergency surgery to close wounds, stop bleeding, or to repair. This is where our Emergency War Surgery manual comes in. This is a very good manual, especially if used to educate yourself in conjunction with our other manuals. To download or to read online, please click the link below.
Having the knowledge to provide first aid is one thing, but having to tools available is another. Regardless of how well your first aid kit is stocked, some uncommon items you should consider adding are: Tampons – used to control bleeding and packing gunshot wounds. Maxi Pads – same concept as the tampons, however can be used to cover, a larger wound and help stop the bleeding. Disposable Diapers – Same concept as the maxi pads, however larger to cover more area. Panty hose – can be used to hold dressings in place or as a tourniquet.
This is an interesting, and very informative book. This book covers the collapse of civilization, how to get through it, to prepare for it, and how to handle it when it arrives. As always this book is free for reading online or to download to read offline later. Click the link below to open.
There are state militias throughout the USA. I am not posting this manual for people to go out and start a militia, but I feel that this manual could be useful for organizing your local prepper group, or a group of like minded individuals. You will need a team to survive, you will not be able to protect your equipment, your family, your property, or your life in a civil uprising, or a situation where you need to bug out. Training is the key, you will fight how you train. To view or download this manual, please click the link below.
A shotgun is such a diverse and useful tool, finding yourself without ammo is like having a hammer with no nails. Finding 12 gauge ammunition is not hard to find, it is relatively cheap, is very effective in most forms, and could probably be found without much effort in an urban survival situation due to the popularity. However, having the ability to make your own ammo in a pinch, could save your life.
I am not endorsing this manual, nor do I take responsibility for anyone trying to manufacture ammunition from this manual. By downloading this manual, you release DoomzDay Preppers.com
from all liability of any damages or bodily harm that occur. With that being said, to download the manual

This manual is called “Aides To Survival”, and it is published by the Western Australia Police Academy. The Outback can be a brutal and unforgiving environment, so when the Aussies publish a survival manual, I am interested. This manual is 105 pages, and covers a variety of interesting and useful topics. To view online or to download, please click the link below.
The gold standard in prepping is to have a bunker. There are many manufacturers that have sprung up that will make customized in ground bunkers, if you have the money. There are many factors to think about when purchasing a bunker, such as land, money, hiring someone to build what you want, hiring someone to put it in the ground, etc. By doing these things, there will be people who know the location of your bunker.
There is a mobile solution that is amazing! This system is called a Concrete Canvas Shelter. The shelter is made from canvas that is impregnated with concrete. Once delivered, this shelter can be deployed by you, to any location, and set up by 2 people. The Video below shows you everything about this system. I have found several dealers for these shelters which are listed below.
As a Veteran of the US Military, I am proud, and extremely grateful to have served in the footsteps of those who have gone before us. I look at the flag as our beacon of freedom, and I am humbled when I hear the Star Spangled Banner. The blood that was shed to keep our Nation free, and the the sacrifices will never be forgotten. From our Fore Fathers, to the current members serving our fine Nation, I salute you, Old Glory, and One Nation, Under God!
This is the coveted Anarchists Cookbook. For years I heard rumors of this book. I have had friends tell me they have a copy, only to say someone borrowed it and never gave it back. It had been elusive for me growing up to find this book, however the internet was not live, and the library certainly did not have it.
The original version which is the first link, is somewhat dated, but I have also included an updated version as well. These are posted for entertainment purposes only. By downloading them, you release DoomzDay Preppers from all liability, from anything tried in these reference materials. To view or download, please click the links below.
The Predator Drone in my opinion has taken the title for swift, silent, and deadly. Striking targets, stalking targets, finding targets, and killing targets. The drone is a very impressive asset to U.S. Military, however with the news lately, the drones may be flying overhead in the USA soon, if not already. The drone manual can give you a better understanding of how it works, how they use it, and more. Very interesting manual, and a welcomed addition to the collection. If old grandpa left you his old 12 gauge, or you want to shoot that
old pistol you came across while cleaning the attic (and don’t have
any ammo!) what do you do? If you can’t buy ammo, or even
primers and re-loading presses from a store, what do you do??
You will need to start from scratch!
Expedient Homemade Ammo provides all the info’ you need to
make simple effective ammo. At the end of the day, you don’t need
‘Presses or Primers’ to construct your own improvised ammo with
just a few simple tools ! Ok, so that is the first couple of paragraphs from this manual.
I am not endorsing this, nor do I take responsibility for anyone trying to manufacture ammunition from this manual. By downloading this manual, you release DoomzDay Preppers.com

The pistol lanyard is a piece of gear that most never think of. While serving in the Armed Forces, we had pistol retention lanyards standard. The main function is to help retain your pistol in all situations. The lanyard is a “dummy cord” of sorts, as I have mentioned in the past. During combat operations, the conditions are fast, and completely unpredictable. If your gear is not properly stowed, if you lose it, you will never know. That is the purpose of the retention lanyard. For civilian use however, this lanyard is great for retaining your pistol while 4 wheeling, hiking, or bugging out. This BlackHawk lanyard is ideal for retention. This is a quality lanyard, and allows for full extension while drawing and firing. Before purchasing, make sure your firearm has a lanyard attachment. We have seen the devastation, the power, and the loss of life from Mother Nature. In the winter it could be extreme temperatures, heavy snow or ice, power lines down. In the spring time it could be the devastating tornadoes that rip through the Midwest, such as Joplin, Missouri, or Moore, Oklahoma. The Hurricane season poses its own set of dangers as well, as we have to clearly seen with Hurricane Sandy in the Northwest. One of the best ways to protect yourself and your family is with a NOAA weather alert radio. I have one in my home sitting next to my bed. The radio will notify me of warnings, watches, and more. I live in Tornado Alley, and it will notify us to seek shelter. I have been woken up several times in the middle of the night to seek shelter because of possible rotation or a tornado. The thing I like about this model is that it is compact, and very portable, making it easy to fit in your backpack. If you would like a different model NOAA weather alert radio, or like to view more radios, please CLICK HERE.
The rechargeable FRX3 is a preparedness radio with AM/FM, all seven NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) weather band stations and the “Alert” system. When the “Alert” function is on, the radio will automatically broadcast emergency weather alerts for your area such as hurricanes, tornadoes and severe storms. Set the solar panel in the sun or spin the hand turbine for one minute to get 10-15 minutes of radio and flashlight use. There are also AAA battery and DC power alternatives (mini-USB included).
The FRX3 also serves as a renewable power source for your other critical devices because of its USB smart phone charger. Simply plug-in your phone into the USB port and power will automatically “dump charge” to your phone, just like plugging into the wall. This radio has a glow-in-the-dark locator so you can find it easily at night plus a LED flashlight and red flashing beacon for emergencies. If you want more than just the radio, there’s an AUX-input to play your own tunes and a headphone output for individual listening.

This is more of a camping or convenience item that I found that is rather cool. Having a portable toilet for camping, something you can sit on that is not disgusting, full of urine or not flushed, which is usually the case in public restrooms. Having the ability to take your own portable toilet is a convenience that will pay for itself the first time out. Click the link below to see the product.
There are lots of things you can go without on camping trips, but a toilet is one of the least pleasant. Fortunately, now you can bring a restroom with you wherever you go with the Visa 268 deluxe portable toilet. Ideal for camping, hiking, marine applications, RVs, sick rooms, or as an emergency backup, the Visa 268 is efficient and easy to use, with a piston-type flush system, a two-direction rinse, and a level indicator on both the fresh water and waste holding tanks. The detachable spout and smooth, high-gloss surface, meanwhile, are built for quick, efficient scrubbing and disinfecting. Most importantly, the toilet includes a leak- and odor-proof seal, so you needn’t locate the Visa 268 in the next county to escape the, um, unpleasant byproducts. Other features include quick-release separation latches, a multiple flush water reservoir, and an air vent for smooth and easy discharge. The Visa 268–which comes with one 4-ounce sample size of Liquid Gold concentrated toilet deodorizer–measures 16 by 16.125 by 16.5 inches (W x H x D) and offers a capacity of 6.3 gallons.

When assembling an emergency pack, a bug out bag, or a short-term survival pack, there are many common items we all stock. One item that is essential to survival in an emergency situation is shelter. A simple emergency shelter that will keep you out of direct exposure to the elements will help keep your core body temperature regulated. Exposure to wet rains in a cold environment can kill you, as we have seen in our area this past winter by some hikers that were lost. Exposure to direct sunlight and raised temperatures can drain your body of fluids and dehydrate you which can kill you. Having a portable, compact, emergency shelter that you can carry in your pack, and deploy easily is not only a piece of mind, but I think is an essential piece of gear.

After having solved the problems of finding water, shelter, and animal food, you will have to consider the use of
plants you can eat. In a survival situation you should always be on the lookout for familiar wild foods and live off
the land whenever possible. You must not count on being able to go for days without food as some sources would suggest. Even in the most static survival situation, maintaining health through a complete and nutritious diet is essential to maintaining
strength and peace of mind. Nature can provide you with food that will let you survive any ordeal, if you don’t eat the wrong plant. You must therefore learn as much as possible beforehand about the flora of the region where you will be operating. Plants can provide you with medicines in a survival situation. Plants can supply you with weapons and raw materials to construct
shelters and build fires. Plants can even provide you with chemicals for poisoning fish, preserving animal hides,
and for camouflaging yourself and your equipment.

The ability to improvise, adapt and to overcome any situation or event is one of the cornerstones of prepping. Nothing ever goes exactly as planned, and there will be times you need to use common items that you improvise into useful tools. Improvised emergency candles are extremely easy to make in a pinch. If you ever find yourself in need of candles, this a simple how to guide to making some quick, improvised candles.
There are a few supplies you need scrounge up. You need a fuel source, a container to hold your fuel, a wick, a wick holder, and a flame. As You can see here, I have assembled a handful of everyday common household items. The items I collected are an old candle holder from my wife, extra virgin olive oil, a notebook, a wooden skewer, a lighter, and not pictured is an old white t-shirt.
The first thing you need to do is to make the wick holder. For this, I used the notebook wire . I started at the bottom and began to unwind it from the paper and cut it.
Cut the wire after a couple of wraps, but the length will depend on the depth of your container. In my case, the depth was very shallow because the container is a small candle holder. Once you cut the wire, slide it off the skewer and flare out the bottom so it will stand on its own. See below.
The next thing we are going to take care of is the wick. The wick can be something like an old cotton t-shirt. I cut a couple of strips out of an old shirt and wound it around the wire holder you just made.
Now take the extra virgin olive oil and fill your container. Take your wick and dip the top of the wick into the oil, and then place the wick into the center of the oil in the container. By dipping the top first, it completely covers the wick right away as opposed to waiting it soak to the top.
his project literally took me about 5 minutes to complete. It took much longer to post this than to make. I would love feed back on your experiments and what oils work best for you. They key to survival is the ability to adapt. The X-Caliber allows you to scavenge all ammo listed below. By using a tried and true single shot 12 gauge shotgun. The X-Caliper system allows you to shoot the widest range of ammo from one platform. You can view on the manufacturers website by
Calibers include: .22 long rifle, .38 special, .357, 9mm, .45 ACP, .45 long colt, .410 shotgun as well as the base 12 ga shotgun. Additionally, X-CALIBER introduces .223, 7.62×39 and .308 to the mix. This means it could well be of interest to anyone who has an interest in scavenging ammunition. Granted, there are some serious considerations to make for dismounted use due to weight. But, additional inserts could be cached for later use.
You provide the base weapon which is a simple, reliable, break action design shotgun. It won’t raise undue interest as it is a commonly found gun, particularly in rural areas. Additionally, the X-CALIBER system will adapt to virtually any break action 12 ga.
GearPods are a new way to organize your equipment or gear. These pods are modular, meaning you can use them more than one way. You can use a stand alone pod, or you can screw them together to make them a system. They have a variety of sizes, variety of colors, and you can buy just the pod, or you can buy a full kit.
One of the other reasons I like these is because they say they are waterproof, and look perfect for burying or caching gear as well.
So the Gearpods can be purchased empty as just the pod enabling you to assemble your own loads, or can be purchased as a kit. So here are some of the kits available. Click the titles to purchase or view.
